Sky Blanket

Sky Blanket is my most recently completed major project. It was featured in the exhibit “Sky Blanket: Recent Work by Meghann O’Brien” at The Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Art in Vancouver BC, “Threads Through Time: A Coastal Textiles History” at The Museum At Campbell River, “Came To Tell Something” at the Haida Heritage Centre in Skidegate, and “Kosmos” at The Museum Rietberg, Zurich CH. Upcoming exhibits include shows at The Museum of Contemporary Native Art in Santa Fe and at The Nelson Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, USA.

The following film was generously created by my talented and beautiful friend Darcy Turenne. You can learn more about her work here.

  1. BEAUTIFUL!! Thought-provoking in its presentation. Both the gorgeous blanket and the presentation of the film (soothing, contemplative) draws the viewer gently in (it certainly did me) to wonder about the process, the talent, the art, the craftsmanship, the history & the heritage of both artists.

Thank you for sharing your gifts with the rest of us, and with me.

    Much enjoyed & Deeply appreciated.

    1. Hi Bernice, thank you so much for the kind words! There is an exhibit catalogue I created for a show at the Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Art, which you can purchase on the website under books, if you would like to learn more. My best, Meghann
